Washington’s cannabis sales top $1.1 billion in 9 months
The cannabis retail market has continued to blossom in Washington State, reaching $1.1 billion at the end of September, according to new data by the Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (LCB).
The state’s nine-month sales total of $1,101,853,539, fell short of Colorado’s sales from the same time period, which totaled $1,118,207,832. Data also reveals that over the past five months, Washington State’s cannabis industry has skyrocketed with monthly sales exceeding $130 million.
Sales tend to fluctuate from month to month, but they have been high all year. The graph shows in early 2016, the state increased the number of retail cannabis licenses, as well as the number of retail stores, from 334 to 556. Sales of extracts and edibles continue to grow at a steady rate as well.
