Cannabis-infused weddings becoming a trend in California
Cannabis-infused wedding ceremonies are becoming a growing trend in California now that social use for adults is legalized.
Philip Wolf, organizer or Cannabis Wedding Expos, is set to begin his first expo event this weekend in San Francisco for couples who want to learn how to safely incorporate cannabis at their wedding.
“You know some just want to enjoy a joint with their bridesmaids before they go walk down the aisle,” Wolf told CBS San Francisco. “If you do have a cannabis bar that is going to be set up, make sure the bud tenders are able to educate any person who hasn’t consumed cannabis in a while, or you know, grandma. Let them know this is legal and this is okay.”
Wolf told CBS SF he has several ideas for the ceremony like cannabis-infused edibles to serve, cannabis decor and cannabis favors for guests, even a cannabis-infused wedding cake.
The centerpiece could be vases that are bongs that you can turn and pass around.
“You can use this on the cannabis bar, you can use this as gifts to your bridesmaids. There’s a lot of ways, but it’s just a subtle, classy way for people to have a smoking device,” Wolf said.
Wedding vendors, like Ivy Gaitatzis, who’s a vendor with Voulez Events, are also excited about this new trend and all the new ideas and variety it could bring to the table.
“It’s been a mind blowing experience because we’re talking about cakes and putting cannabis as decor on cakes, baking cakes with cannabis or having a bridal bouquet with buds that drape from it, like grapes on a vine,” Gaitatzis told CBS SF News.
Cannabis-friendly brides and grooms are also getting creative when it comes to coming up with ideas on how to incorporate cannabis in the ceremony. Gaitatzis said some couples want to hand out joints with their names branded on the rolling paper as wedding favors.
Not only will the favor be a great addition for cannabis-friendly guests, but it’ll also heighten their senses of taste and hearing, making the food and music amazing.
Cannabis-infused weddings seem like they are going to change the game and switch things up a bit from the traditional, typically alcohol-infused wedding ceremonies.
Let’s wait and watch how couples and wedding vendors come up with creative ideas to make weddings more cannabis-friendly in the future.
