Vermont gov creates social cannabis commission to discuss legalization

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott established a commission which will study ways to legalize social cannabis in the state.

The commission created Thursday must issue a report on their findings to the Legislature by January.

In May, the governor vetoed a bill passed by the Legislature which would have legalized social cannabis. Scott released a statement which said he is not opposed to legalizing cannabis, but studies on impaired driving, adolescent consumption and taxation need to be reviewed before any steps are taken.

The Legislature is expected to discuss the commission’s expanded findings during the January session.
