The largest cannabis dispensary on the planet just launched in Las Vegas, and it features an entertainment complex
The United States has enacted medical cannabis laws across 30 states and Washington D.C., with a further 10 having legalized the plant for recreational. Despite the fact the U.S. map is not completely green quite yet, it has already made history by being the country in which the world’s largest cannabis dispensary can be found.
Its name is “Planet 13” and it officially opened for business on November 1. Of course, the dispensary is located where recreational cannabis laws have been passed – Las Vegas, Nevada.
Not only is the world’s largest cannabis dispensary just a dispensary, but also an entertainment complex. Planet 13 unfurls across 112,000 square feet, according to the company. Its doors will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, much like the casinos that pepper the glittering Las Vegas landscape.
Planet 13: World’s largest cannabis dispensary will indulge and entertain consumers
All of the cannabis products sold inside the 24-hour dispensary will be bear the Planet 13 brand. This is a tactical move that could eventually see Planet 13’s products being added to the menu inside other dispensaries nationwide.
Guests should prepare to be followed by a trail of twinkling LED lights. These sensory activated lights illuminate when the guests walk past, tracing their journey through the lobby with a rainbow of luminescence.
Guests will feel as though they are literally on another planet from the moment they enter Planet 13, where the entrance is aglow with 13 LED lotus flowers that project 15-feet above the ground. Visitors can take control of the sheer radiance that encapsulates them, what with these giant gleaming flowers being controllable pieces of interactive art.
Planet 13 has plans to introduce a cannabis coffee shop
Right now, there’s no Amsterdam-style cannabis coffee shop to be found inside the world’s largest cannabis dispensary, where a mere 40,000 square feet is currently in use.
That means there’s surplus space of 80,000 square feet just waiting to evolve.
“A coffee shop, a tasting room for marijuana-infused beer and wine, a lounge for consuming marijuana on-site if that is legalized and space for food are all in the pipeline,” said the CEO of Planet 13, Bob Groesbeck, in a press release.
Groesbeck anticipates that 2,000 people will enter the store on a daily basis. Before it opened its doors at the beginning of the month, a different business in Las Vegas claimed the title of world’s largest cannabis dispensary, NuWu Cannabis Marketplace. The dispensary opened last year and stretches across 16,000 square feet of space which significantly smaller than the new record-holder, Planet 13
Nevada cannabis industry is doing well one year after legalization
Recreational cannabis use is legal for adults aged 21 and above in Las Vegas. Even though weed was only legalized last year, the green plant has already bolstered tourism levels and economic growth to otherworldly realms.
During the first year of legal weed sales, cannabis tax revenue topped more than $69.8 million, according to the Las Vegas Sun. With the addition of a dispensary like Planet 13, this figure is likely to swell even more this year.
You can find the “number one Las Vegas dispensary” perched on 2548 West Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas, NV 89109, USA.
